Sheep at work in Montreal? 🐑 Here’s how urban eco-grazing works

A flock of sheep in the heart of Montreal? 🐑🌿 They didn't escape from a farm: they're working.

Every summer, a flock arrives at Parc Maisonneuve in Montreal as part of an urban eco-grazing project.

In some areas of the park, vegetation is allowed to grow, and then the sheep graze in a controlled manner. As they eat, they help maintain the vegetation, naturally fertilize the soil, and reduce the need for machinery.

But the project goes far beyond mowing the lawn: it also seeks to promote biodiversity and find more natural ways to care for the city's green spaces.

This season, the sheep arrived at the end of June and will be in the park until October 12, before returning to the countryside for the winter.

So if you're ever walking around Montreal and come across a flock of sheep… they're probably working. 🐑😄
